Something that has occured to me earlier. I don't do many tabletops at the moment and a lot of the ones people have mentioned they are running (one that I was invited to by [livejournal.com profile] quetzyl in the last week is the freshest example) I am not particular enthused about playing. Having just read something written by [livejournal.com profile] nevecat I think I have worked out why. Too much fantasy.

I am currently playing in [livejournal.com profile] lathany's Athory campaign which is fantasy and I have been playing in it and the previous incarnation for literally years now (longest game I've been in I think). The trouble is this gives me all the fantasy I want.

I've played in non-fantasy games in the past but hugely fewer with comparison to the fantasy games that seem to be around. I think the trouble is that my mind is yearning for contemporary or futuristic without any of this fantasy stuff in there. Something like cyberpunk, star wars or even vampire/werewolf/whatever games.

So, if anybody is running anything like that and is close enough for me to get to a game and has space do let me know. Alternatively if I can twist anybody's arm to run something let me know and I will start twisting as soon as possible.

And in response to something [livejournal.com profile] nevecat said to me on her journal I don't want to run something and I suppose you could have said start meaning start and get somebody else to run but that seems rude to me. :)

Evening Standard ...

"After the chaos of the last few days life is heading back to normal in London but the healing process will be long. Explanations range from mass hallucination to alien invasion..."

"...the government lists the official casualty numbers after the riots of the last few days as heading into the thousands with fire related injuries being the main cause of death..."

"...the Egyptian government is reporting a surge in members of an obscure cult claiming to be the 'People's of the Sun'. The police are looking for a figure using the name Hept Seshet"

Oh, I dare say. Have you got the other GMs roped in though?

Seems a bit excessive for what is currently described as a table top. As GM's anyway. And I apart from [livejournal.com profile] elethiomel noticing here I haven't mentioned the idea to them either ;-)
Unless of course other preferences are expressed by said other GM's.

Oh well, we're probably alright. As long as we keep Mr Allen on a short rope, this time.

I wasn't really expecting more than a normal tabletop worth of players to want to play any more.

*grins broadly*

I suspect the authorities might do well to seek a languid, and slightly touched, young Frenchman by the name of Mercadia, who is believed to be an associate of this 'Hept-Seshet' figure...

Odd that, he hasn't been seen in a while, the girls say he has decided to withdraw for a while to recover. ;-)

Well it's a description...
I'm sure it doesn't make any claims to be accurate...

Uh, start as in stir until half-baked game ideas pop out of *someone*'s head[1] :)

Mr Hemmens, for example, is usually persuadable to run almost anything obscure if suitably sprinkled with possibilities and potential players :)

Remember, it's not rude, it's merely cultivating and directing another person's natural enthusiasm ;)

[1] - which could include your own if thinking about it made you think of a game you wanted to run!
