I saw this on somebody's LJ and thought it was quite interesting. I've stripped off the matter of fact questions (like how long I've been roleplaying) and instead left the ones that give me a nice trip down memory lane. Its really just an exercise in nostalgia so is probably of more interest to RPGSoc people who may remember some of these people.
| Jump off a bridge? |
| | Probably Lat Kestram from Inc. He was at one point verging on suicidal due to having caused the death of people he cared greatly about, not knowing who he was and feeling incredibly shit about his life.
|
| Get drunk and pass out? |
| | My character most like that currently is my main Cam character, Martin. He is basically a teenager who likes going out on the piss with his mates. Most of my other characters have either not been in a setting that this is appropriate too or have been a bit older and gotten past that phase to a certain extent.
|
| Kill somebody in a very unorthodox way? |
| | So many answers for this one. Lat comes up again since he was a master of unarmed combat and improvisation. He is likely to kill somebody with a coke can and a DVD in some bizzarre fashion. Alternatively there is Daniel Grisham, a sabbat vampire from Refraction. He was just a bit of a psycho in a lot of ways. He wouldn't have done it in a wasteful way but he did enjoy torturing people, or more accurately, watching people being tortured well. I'm sure he killed some people while torturing them in very unusual fashions.
|
| Be far too hyper for their own good? |
| | I can't remember ever having played a particularly hyper character. Probably little thuban, my Shallazar street urchin. A young kid who thought the world was amazing. Not what I'd call hyper but maybe over enthusiastic... "Corrr!! You fought a dragon? Was it big? Did it breathe fire at you? Did you kill it? What happened?"...
|
| Get lost and refuse to ask for directions? |
| | Not sure. Probably Vlad Molotov, my mad scientist from inferno. I choose him because it doesn't seem to apply to any of my characters in the intended way and it occurs to me that Vlad would probably get lost, not notice and therefore not ask for directions. There are other character such as Varn from RoboMancer who wouldn't *ask* for directions when lost, just demand them (and I really doubt anybody would try to say get lost). :)
|
| Star in a horror movie? |
| | Many of them could really though none are actually likely to have ever really got that opportunity.
|
| Star in a romance movie? |
| | As above really. Willingness is there in many but not really the opportunity.
|
| Star in a video game? |
| | Has to be Valomo. My Icon character did write several big computer games and I'm sure was in them. Maybe not as a star but there mught well have been a few characters based on him. In fact thinking about how the game worked almost certainly some of the leader's of the races would have been non playable initially and thus have Valomo or other staff playing the role.

| Make the world a better place? |
| | Sebastian Rivers, Martin Cross. Sebastian was my Gangrel from the Wessex game. He was designed as a fundamentally nice, humanity 10 kind of character. He was a vet, did work for the homeless, would help anybody without needing to be asked. He just wanted to be good and helpful and to make people's lives better. Martin (Cam character) is the more proactive side of this. He wants to deal with the bad elements in a direct fashion. One of his almost inspirations is spider man and the idea that "wth great power comes great responsibility". He believes that he has super human powers (being a werwolf and having effectively magif and shit) and that it is his duty to use these powers to make the world a better place. He does often wish he didn't have the powers and responsibility but he does so he tries his best.

| Have a torrid gay love affair? |
| | Err... Since I can't think of any gay characters then not really appropriate. I suppose if I were to say anybody it would be RN4d, an AI I played in Inc. I don't think he ever really thought about love affairs but this at least puts him in a position where gay love affairs aren't ruled out. That and AIs don't have a gender in a lot of ways so gay becomes a more liberally interpretable phrase. :) |
| Love: |
| | I think the most memorable one (maybe due to the recentness of it) is Martin who has managed to get somebody badly hurt because of love. Damn wyrm beasties locating her and beating her up and finding it so easy because of something he gave her because he loved her. Dammit. :) |
| Hate: |
| | Most character hate in some ways. Martin hates the bad guys that beat up his woman. Juril Elman, my imagister 2 character was a man of hate. He was basically evil bad and wrong and did very much hate the "goody goodys" who think they knew best and stopped his mistresses plans to destroy the world. |
| Money: |
| | Strangely this is probably Vlad Molotov. Much of his driving goal was his work for his house who had lost a whole lot of money relatively recently. Most of his inventions were initially geared towards making money (and indeed his early use of his time machine was to win money on the horses. :) |
| Seduction: |
| | Seduction I am not sure about. I can't think of any characters who were particularly seduces in the obvious meaning. There was Juril mentioned above who tried to seduce people to the dark side. Didn't really manage much but that is the nature of trying to corrupt PCs who don't want to be evil. :) |
| Lies: |
| | Put Juril down number one for that. It was about 10 sessions of game before it came out that he was evil having spent a long time lying to people up to then. He created several alternate personas to interact with people and indeedlied even to his allies on many occasions. A bit of murder and whatever. I can only think of one time he was helpfully honest and that was only because he was warning something about another bad guy. Shame they didn't listen to him. :) It was great fun that game. |
| Tragedy: |
| | I think Sebastian is down for that one. He was, as mentioned above, the nicest person ever. His trusting nature ended with him being involved in the vaulderie and thus joining the sabbat. He was asked to spy on the sabbat by an archon and one of the sabbat used fleshcrafting to look like the archon and so Sebastian trusted her. When he was asked to join in with the vaulderie he thought a) it was an archon saying it was alright and b) that his blood bond to his sister (biological) would prevent him being bound to anybody else. The tale ended after his return to Wessex when he was persuaded that he was ultimately causing harm to the world by his existance and started on a plan to return himself to the cycle.
In the end he had to abandon his sister that he really did love very dearly and give his life to make the world a better place. It was actually quite an upsetting kind of moment to have to leave her behind. He had been persuaded that living as a vampire was bad and so no longer valued any other vampiric existance that highly. Mix this with the fact that he did dearly love his family (his sister was embraced by a toreador ten or so years before Sebastian was) and you have a tragic tale of loss of the thing most dear to you. Definitely one of the more emotional characters that I have played. |
| Manipulation: |
| | Lets go for Juril elman again for reasons similar to above one for lies. |
| Violence: |
| | I'll go with Varn on this one. Mainly because I haven't said much on him. Varn wasn't a bright chap but he was a big strong thug. He wasn't stupid as such but his solution to things did tend to be that he was bigger than them. He eventually died during an attack on a giant walking robot like machine. Storming the control rooms was meant to be near impossible but he had already led the successful assault on two or three of these things before coming to his tragic end. It was quite upsetting in a way but it was very much "live by the sword, die by the sword". Though it was in fact a spear in this case. |
| Politics: |
| | Oooh, a tricky one. Probably Martin is the person I associate most. It should probably be the vampire prince of washington since he had a lot of politics but I proved then that I don't think fast on my feet or in situations I don't know about fully and so quite sucked at the politics. Martin however is a character who has grown into the politics so I know all the players, I know the situations and it is nowhere near as stressful as washington was. :) |
| Fire: |
| | Ummm... probably the dragon blooded NPC from my one off game. A fire aspected Dragon Blooded who was very fun and will almost certainly be making a come back in my campaign. |
| Ice: |
| | Samus Aran? OK. Not a roleplaying character of mine but a computer game character you can play and who has an ice beam. Ice really doesn't make me think of any of my characters but people should feel free to suggest them if they can. |
