Music and nice housemates
Mar. 26th, 2003 01:56 amone thing I forgot to mention in my last post was getting unexpectedly given a couple of music CDs. They were duplicate magazine cover discs with an assortment of quite cool bands. I've not had much chance to listen but they are quite cool what I have heard. I can't even tell you what artists are on them since they are in the car. Must drive more so I can listen more. :)
And my housemate angharad is lovely. Well, I only say that because she bought a nice chinese meal for us all (by which I mean the people who live here which is a fairly small "all") tonight. I don't know why but I really really enjoyed it. It was nice for us all to do something together too. People have been very busy recently and during free time have not been in the same place. So it was nice to have food and then sit and watch Johnny Mnemonic (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0113481).
On the other hand maybe I should whinge that Angharad didn't buy me a nicer present. She did after all get a random increase in her grant backdated by six months which so she has received a big stack of cash which is why she splashed out on take away. Why do those sorts of things never happen to me? Well, not on that scale anyway.
I did get an extra 50 quid today sort of when I got an e-mail today saying "That work you did last week. How does 50 quid for a follow up sound?". nice. Basically taking questionnaire data from the thing I wrote and putting it into plain text. Data extraction which is almost as bad as data entry for the tedium of cut and paste but it was nice considering I had extracted the data for them and I think they just couldn't be bothered/didn't have time to do it themselves. Nice.
Anyway, might go to bed now. Maybe via more Neuromancer since I am in the mood having just watched Johnny Mnemonic. And having followed some random links (via William Gibson on imdb) I find myself trying to recall a program called "Wild Palms" (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0106175). The name sticks in my head as something I watched and liked but having read the plot summary I can't really recall it. Anybody care to refresh my memory any further or happen to have it on video or DVD (wishful thinking, I'm sure).
Also has anybody seen "New Rose Hotel"? It's another gibson short story adaptation and I quite liked the story. It stars Christopher Walken and Willem Defoe, two good actors, but the one review there is absolutely awful. Just wondered about a second opinion but since it looks like a film that never even made it as far as video I doubt I will ever know... :)

Spinning bird kick!
Date: 2003-03-25 06:35 pm (UTC)Sorry not to see you this weekend. We did discuss doing a 12-abreast Monkees walk through Abingdon Waitrose car park and concluded that if you had been there then the three of us (you, me and Phil Hannay) would have been a critical mass to get things started in a way that two of us would not have been. There was much joyful use of the swings and adventure playground outside Phil's house at 2am and considerable kicking a ball around at 11pm which would have been very much your thing, I reckon.
