...my paid account has given me the Incredible Flickering Posts (TM). My two Friday posts have adopted "Now you see me, now you don't" tactics so that only the truly determined can actually read them.
I didn't think you needed a paypal account. I seem to remember all I did was went along with a creditcard and paid them some money. I suppose it is possible that I signed up as I did it but if so it wasn't hard. :)
I noticed the amazing flickering posts. In between the periods when they weren't there. I have noticed a distressing number of live journal bugs/features. Almost a large enough number to be annoying.
Following some prodding - seems like I can comment on some people's posts and not on others.
Which, added to the status.livejournal.com latest thing, would suggest it's only affecting some clustery things and not others - ie journals rather than users, if that makes sense. I'm on 'Santa', and can't update my journal...
Of course, if Chris can still comment on my journal, then I'm wrong ;)
Ah. Well, I can probably sort you out if you want. Drop me an e-mail or something. I figure if you can wire money into my account I can pay it via credit card or something.
We're both right - paid users live on different clusters, IIRC :)
But it certainly isn't 'free users can't do anything at all, we're big blue meanies' like some of the whingers seem to be claiming...
...I'm just intrigued as to why something which sounds like it was a deliberate decision took so long to be mentioned on lj-maintainance - if I were them, I'd want to put known problems up ASAP to cut down on repeated reports of errors.

Sorry to correct you but it would seem that we are both right apart from you since I believe you said you were on Santa and so am I. :)
And yeah, I agree about the reporting ASAP. I'd guess there was a breakdown of communication somewhere along the line. In my experience of these sorts of things one guy notices the problem, takes the usual course of action of hitting the "light load" button and then climbs inside the database server. Four hours later somebody else goes, "Umm... I can't *see* the post were you say you disabled everything" at which point the first guy swears and curses and says "Could you do it for me? I'll buy you a drink."
Charges are usually not much but they aren't usually very noticeable on these things. I'd suggest rounding up to the nearest pound will usually cover it. :)
Of course you could just pay afterwards when the exact cost can be confirmed.

Well, feel free to post anything you want here and transfer it to your LJ later. :)

Re: PayPal
Date: 2003-01-10 10:18 am (UTC)I was just being too lazy to do the conversion
that and I figured if ozzy had used it for his paid account he might actually know the exact thing :)
