Compulsory Garou national post
Sep. 23rd, 2002 02:29 pmWell, the weekend was the garou national. I didn't do much else really so I will just bounce about the national. :)
I got myself nicely organised and was planning to give a lift up to Xan and Phil. I figured leaving at about 10 would do the trick. I got an early night and my body decided to wake up at just before 8AM so I was up in plenty of time.
I went and did a few things, had breakfast, showered and so on and running slightly late left the house at just gone 10. I then remembered the need for petrol so stopped off for some of that. I then got to phil and picked him up. Saturday morning tow traffic got me to Xan much later than I intended and we were leaving oxford at about quarter to eleven. Fortunately my driving made up the time and we got to the game site at about 11:40.
There was a fair bit of sitting round and chatting before the game started (late Co-ordinators and STs). I filled up some of the time by playing on the laptop and making some notes on what the glasswalkers needed to talk about. I also did some remote navigation support when Caroline and Sarah found themselves lost and so I had my map and was busily tracing their route.
The game started a while later and it got off to a fairly slow start. People chatted and stuff and then tribes went to meet. The glasswalkers had a good old chat about a lot of things and worked out a few things that needed doing and a few things that needed sorting out. Then the first bit of plot hit.
BSDs in the old plastics factory... Well, stuff happened. The ragabash went off and scouted, all except me since I have no hiding gifts so they left me behind. Suited me fine. I went and joined in the galliard chat at which point the next bit of plot hit me. A screaming in the back of my head.
Well, it seemed that the theurges had come across this (and done nothing useful) and all the glasswalkers seemed to be coming down with it. After some investigation it turned out that the caern totem was trapped and in pain and was taking it out on us. The theurges as the ones close to the spirits and the glasswalkers as the tribe of cockroach, the spirit that was trapped.
Much headachey pain later and the other glasswalkers come back and a plan is formed. We try to summon cockraoch and end up getting summoed to where he is or into an umbrascape or something. We found the avatar spirit tortured and mutated and chained in a pit. We go in and try to free him or heal him but all to no avail.
We then decide that we need to give him a merciful death. The glasswalkers ask everybody to leave and in what is probably a very spooky fashion proceeded to try to kill the spirit in virtual silence. The spirit is unable to fight back but is a bastard to kill, eventually the half dozen glasswalkers kill the spirit and we slowly return to the real world.
It was quite a traumatic time for some of the glasswalkers, having to kill an avatar of their tribal totem and all but cockroach appeared to us and told us we did the right thing.
The glasswalkers then went to get themselves a stiff drink while waiting for the war parties that had gone to fight the BSDs to return.
Then the great moot bit. Fairly dull until we discover that the big kinfolk party happening nearby had been attacked by BSDs. A large posse charges out immediately and I am told to wait by ctrl-alt-del, the eldest of my tribe there. His reasons are good so I do. Enough garou have gone that there is not much I can do to help.
Until later that is. The fighting over and the healing begun they needed a cover up job. I can do that well so I headed over and prepared the covering story. It was a scary site to see the garou and the healthier kinfolk moving around a scene of carnage trying to heal the worst injured of them. Meanwhile I got the police, ambuilances and so on there after we had had time to hide all the supernatural stuff that we could.
I never made it back to the moot. Probably a good job too given some of the stuff that I knew was to be discussed (And how boring I knew it was).
Other highlights include having my wisdom confirmed at the great moot, thus giving me the renown I need to challenge for fostern. Something I really must get around to sorting out later.
It was a fantastic day and I really enjoyed it. Much seeing of people I don't see that much and meeting a few people that I hadn't met before. It was great for my character as well though he is getting majorly overstressed at the moment.
Anyway, back to working for the BBC. Actually have things to do though they are rapidly coming to an end...
