A Sesus Murderer
Aug. 18th, 2002 07:17 pmThat remarkably pants title is the best name I managed to come up with for the dragon blooded game I ran yesterday and today. Fortunately as far as the two players were concerned the game was better than that name. :)
I've never run anything particularly politically and although this wasn't hugely politic (it was a one off so no time for anything too complicated) it was a different sort of game to the usual. The entire game took place at a Dragon Blooded party with most of it being a talky kind of thing. "Whodunnit" is probably the best description.
The game started with some socialising, getting to know a few of the other guests and so on. It was an opportunity for the two PCs (Krystyna and Matt) to get an idea of their characters in play rather than just in theory. Before long the highlight of the party comes about as the host displayed her latest artifacts, some incredibly valuable first age relics.
As is often the case with games something bad happened about this time. A murder was committed and the PCs brother was discovered at the scene of the crime with the murder weapon, his sword, in his hand. He was of course arrested and the PCs regretfully informed. As is predictable they investigated. First of all talking to their brother to find out his side of things (which was a memory blank at the time of death) then trying to find out more about the victim as well as investigating other possibilities of murderers.
Much investigation later they discover the body of one of the servants burried in the garden. and realise that he waws a) the person who found their brother at the scene of the crime abd b) still serving food and drink in the main room. This led to the final conflict as many people converged on the bad guy and a big fight ensued. During this chaos one of my PCs stumbled onto the side plot as somebody tried to steal the artifacts (and succeeded).
The game finished with their brother cleared for the crime but with both the murderer and the thief getting away. On the other hadn they had leads on them so it was a successful outcome for the PCs. Much spare plot to be had as well and already ideas in my head.
It was really fun to run it and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For now though I think I will leave any further info on the game for the players to put in their LJs (or feel free to ask me).
