ARST: COINCIDENCE

The first of our new roles is charged with the responsibility of examining plot (via DST reports and, where possible, attendance at games) across all venues and Domains in the Region, and noticing and exploiting similarities, as well as suggesting potential new plots that will aid in building our Regional identity. STing experience would be useful, if not essential, and a fluent writing style is certainly recommended.

The above is a brief blurb on a new ARST job in the central region. Now, I think it was only saturday that I was saying "I don't want another officer job" but this is quite tempting for me. I do quite like playing with plot and doing evil things to it and linking bits up and making everything more holistic. I think I could do the job quite well (I'd have to give myself some good organisation but that shouldn't be *too* hard ).

The trouble is I said I wouldn't take another officer role. Why did I say this? mainly because I seemed to be spending far too much time on it and not enjoying it as much. So, lets try to go for pros and cons as I try to work out (with the help of my by now bored audience) whether to apply...

Pros

• I think I'd enjoy it


• I think I'd be good at it


• I get to make Cam a better game (in the central region at least)

Cons

• It would take up lots of my time


• I would know all the plots in the central region making playing less fun in terms of getting involved in plot. There is still the fun of character interaction though.
  

So, based on this I think the key points weighing against each other are "I think I'd enjoy it" against "I think it might impact enjoyment of playing". I don't play outside my region that much so the latter may be important. On the other hand I only play in the oxford game really so I may be able to just ask Joe to look at the Oxford plots for me if I got the job. Hmmm... So... any opinions from the audience?

Having just re-read the requirements again it does suggest familiarity with plots by game attendance and I'm not sure I'd do that at all. on the other hand I don't think anybody with this role should be gettting involved in plots particularly and so I don't think would see them that much through game attendance...

I dunno. Somebody persuade me I don't want to do this job or something... :)
