Training Montage music
Nov. 6th, 2008 06:12 pmRight. This mornign I got up nice and early (and then got stuck in traffic and was thus late) for an appointment with a dude at the gym to get myself a training program made up. So now I have a bunch of exercises to do to give structure and a nice thing to keep my records of how I'm doing and it will make me even more awesome and mega productive at the gym.
This leaves me needing one very important thing: music to listen to on my mp3 player while I'm exercising. I figure that the sort of music that I'd want would be the sort of music that plays while training montages are going on so that I can know I'm in a montage and thus definitely improving. My trouble is I can't think of music that is particularly suitable for a training montage...
Obviously there is "eye of the Tiger" by whoever that was. But that's where I run out of ideas. So what do you think I should listen to? Non-montage music is acceptable if you think it would be good to train to...

....right here we go.
You need a mix of high energy and beat/bass driven stuff to start.
Don't Stop Me Now - Queen
It Feels So Good - Sonique
Call on Me - Eric Prydz
After that point you need driving dance beats to keep your energy high.
Freestyler - Bomfunc MCs
Lola's Theme - Shapeshifters
I Like It - Narcotic Thrust
Then you may well have a stretch session (this might come here, or in the end, as the warm-down, but the music choices apply wherever you put it)
The Baywatch Theme
Voyage Voyage - Kate Ryan
The MTV Mashup: Enya v The Prodigy commonly known as "Smack My Bitch Up"
Then you feel the burn and need something to appeal to sheer bloody minded grit and determination.
Eye of the Tiger - Survivor
Holding Out for a Hero - Bonnie Tyler
The Final Countdown - Europe
Then you need generally awesome stuff to ride out the euphoric run to the end when you know that you've made it.
Summer Jam - The Underdog project
Rise Up - Yves LaRock
Anything from Daft Punk's Discovery album
It's worked for me!
