Ikaruga - a wonderful game

One of my favourite shoot'em ups in some time is a gamecube game called Ikaruga. The concept was that your ship ould change colour from black to white and the enemies were all black and white with bullets that were either black or white. The idea being that if your ship was white you could absorb white bullets to power up your superweapon but black would kill you. Similarly if you were white you shot white bullets whcih did more damage to black enemies and so on. the tricky part in some ways is that the bullet will get literally covered in bullets and so half the point is to make sure you are the right colour to "sweep up" the bullets of the same colour and provide you with teh gaps to move through.

To see an exceedingly good demonstration of the game and how mad it can be you can click on the link to the video I've been sent (by evath). On the hardest skill level baddies explode into a spray of bullets when they die as well (I think of the colour that you shot them with or something).

You probably won't appreciate it as much if you've never played the game but you should be able to see that there is a huge amount of skill involved in this persons gameplay.

And yes, today is the day of updating whenever a thought comes into my mind.

I want to do it again. I want to beat that game! Again, or prehaps i should buy that new one on the xbox.....
