I've complained a bit about buses in comments on my last journey. They seem to take longer and be more expensive than driving. But now I have a new one. I've told a sales guy I'll go up to the toyota garage tommorrow for 9:30-10:00 ish. Now I know buses go round kidlington and some might be close enough that bus and walk is an option. However, I can't find a bloody map of where the routes are.

Buses are fine when you know which route you want because you are at the bus stop or whatever. However, knowing where you want to go to and trying to work out how to best get there on bus is just painful... I might end up just getting a taxi to save the hastle...

In case anybody wants to prove their information mining skills I want to get from cutteslowe (OX2 8NR) to Langford Lane motor park (OX5 1FJ) to get there by 9:30 tomorrow morning. Some walking acceptable but please minimise it.

Bloody buses. They don't make it easy...

It's the Oxford bus system that's the problem. Because they have more than one bus company, there's no comprehensive way to find out how to get anywhere, unlike in London, where you can just put it in to the website and it tells you.

The St Albans bus system is the same. I reckon it's the same all over the country, London aside. There just is no decent way of plotting a journey by bus, if it's a journey that's new to you.

Actually, I've always found that when I need to work out what bus goes where in Hertfordshire, www.intalink.org is a godsend.

Maybe they're assuming no one can read maps? Maybe that would be too much like work?

Oh and the oxford bus company - http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk/content/Image/20061210%20citynetowrk.pdf

There you go, now all you have to do is work it out :-)

You'll be wanting the 2D to Oxford Airport (which is directly opposite the airport). Leaves Magdalen St. at 8:48 to get you there at 9:10

If it's any help I know they go from outside sainsburys in town and go about every 5-10 minutes - the oxford bus co ones and stagecoach ones will both get you there. I used to live around kidlington but I can't for the life of me remember where the toyota garage is - [personal profile] diffrentcolours lived there for 2 years though so he might be able to give you some more detailed directions.
