SO its all over now and I will stop boring you all with various wedding related stuff. Well, after this post I will.

It all really started for me on thursday when I picked up [livejournal.com profile] joe_smoke and [livejournal.com profile] mentalfirewall to go down to the rehearsal. We got down there fine and did the rehersal which was all well and good. A couple of amusing moments when the vicar referred to the couple as "Ellie and Matt" and later on when he mentioned "Mr and Mrs Williams do this" and both Joe and I were wondering why his parents had to do something before twigging that he was going to be married by this point.

A couple of pleasant days where then spent with Joe's family in their *huge* house with lovely lovely lovely shower. His family were wonderful as well and made me feel very welcome. And Meg (the younger sister) introduced me to a series of Ninja films. In particular Ultimate Ninja whose quality can be determined by the names of some of the characters. There was Victor, leader of the black ninjas and Charles, leader of the Red Ninjas. They were a totally different and never connected plot from the village plot where Roger had killed the village leader Ronald 20 years earlier and now his son Jimmy wants revenge...

Anyway, the big day came and I think I was the last to be ready, leaving the house with hair not sorted and tie loose around my neck.

The ceremony was excellent. Very moving, I got confused about when I was meant to sit down having done my part but I think I chose a good time so it all worked. Joe and Ellie were so sweet it was awesome. Then afterwards photos and a LARP sword arch for them to walk through as they went to the car. It was awesome and worked really well despite my worries about it all.

The reception was excellent as well. I started getting nervous as we got there about my upcoming speech. I got to announce dinner and I got given a microphone and I felt I really should have done some kind of karaoke with the microphone while I had it... Top gun style "You never close your eyes..." would have been awesome, if embarrassing.

The meal was very nice though nerves meant I had no appetite. I got to sit next to a couple of bridesmaids, one of whom was 12 and being pestered by her little brother whcih was a laugh.

Then dinner was over and the time for speeches came. I got to do the teaspoon on a glass thing to draw attention and then started introducing people. It was excellent because the moment I stood up and said my first words the nervousness just evaporated in the heat of the moment.

Kevin (the father of the bride) gave an awesome speech as did Joe after him. THen I launched into mine. I knew it pretty well though I have no idea how well I presented it compared to how I wanted to. I got plenty of laughs though and despite missing out several lines I was intending to say I added in enough more that it wasn't a problem. I'm looking forward to seeing the video of it.

Afterwards came the cutting of the cake. There were two cakes, the wedding cake and the Groom's cake - a chocolate brick of awesomeness. That alone is enough to make somebody love Ellie. Once they cut it I managed to ninja a piece of cake which I wolfed down since my apetite had come back at this point. I also started drinking since I'd not touched a drop before my speech (save a couple of toasts).

The rest of the evening was spent mingling and socialising. I got drunk and flirted with many many people. Lots of people congratulated me on the speech which was good. I think I made offers to half the bridesmaids to come back to my place afterwards as well as several other people. I chatted to many people though and had a thoroughly good time. I think pumped on adrenaline from the speech for the last part of the evneing since I am sure I should have felt much more knackered.

The evening ended with a couple of people staying in the same place (I'm bored of LJ linking now) sitting in my room chatting. I forget what about to be honest. The alcohol by this point had a firm grip and the adrenaline was at an all time low...

But that was it. A wonderful day and Joe and Ellie are now married and hopefully now on their way up to scotland (or possible there, I can't remember the timings).

Today is a bit of an anti-climax. I'm back in oxford and need to work. While looking at LJ hoping for more wedding posts...

Yay! They're married! There was also other exciting news last night but that is for their LJs, not mine.
