For some work I'm doing I need to find out what a font is or at least find a close approcimation to it. I only have it in images at the moment, unforutnately. A couple of sample images:

Anybody able to tell me what the font is or able to point me at something similar. Must be free to use on a website.

I really appreciate any help you can give me.

You probably already know about this, being able to use google and all, but just in case: http://www.1001fonts.com/ has tons of really good fonts. I've always been able to find what I want there.

Having said that you'd have to spend time browsing. 'fraid I don't have any particular recollection of a font like that one.

Bibbo Black

http://www.identifont.com/show?3V0

(Actually, I got the URW version, but, other than presumable copywrite issues, I don't knowwhat the difference is.)

Or, more likely, Bauhaus 93, since that looks like the Microsoft equivalent.

The actual search result I got was here.

So, take your pick.

yeah identifont is the site I've used in the past. I assume wimble got it right.

Bibbo?! What kind of ridiculous name for a typeface would that be -- I suspect you mean Blippo.

Well, clearly I meant Bilbo. But yes, they meant Blippo.

What the Font also comes up with Blippo Black, but is a cleverer tool for future reference!

Oh, that really is quite neat. Provided you've got a graphic, of course.

I know there are websites that will ask you a series of questions and tell you what the font is. I just googled for it in the past and can't remember the name.

Though that font is definitely in the gimps font package.

It looks quite a lot, but not exactly, like Bauhaus - specifically, Bauhaus heavy, though I always knew that weight as plain old Bauhaus.

Not quite the same, but here's http://www.urbanfonts.com/fonts/Pump_Rus.htm - which is the closest I've found so far...

You have people with the answer already, but the typography student will confirm that this is a Bauhaus style. (Bauhaus was a movement/institution in Germany in perhaps the 30s, with an influential modernist style of graphic communication which included fonts like this one.) You will find a lot of imitations of this, including free ones. The exact configuration of the lower-case 'e' is something to look out for - that may be a major difference between versions.
