Amecon in brief - day 1

chrisvenusThe first proper day of the con yesterday and I feel dead now...
At 9:30 I started to help the people on the registration desk. I was helping with that until 6PM... With no break. Most of that time spent on my feet running around. It was kind of fun though.
I then went to the opening ceremony which was very funny and then after some chill out in the games room (DDR, guitar hero, para para and many other silly game) went to watch some anime. I'll give details of that when I can find the piece of paper with the names but it was interesting but a bit too bloody for my liking.
After that I chilled in the games room for a bit and bumped into some nice people (I wonder if they have LJs...) and then went boogieing in the disco. Will (the chairman running the whole thing) was running his AMV[0] Disco with about three or four hours of old school 80s and rock and stuff. Hits ranged from bon jovi through YMCA into the familiar territory of Aerosmith and the final song of the evening firmly lodged in my head... God gave rock and roll to you...
I then hung around with people trying to get to their room keys until at 3 I decided to abandon them (they weren't left alone) and go to bed via the leicester equivalent of bab vans (it was kind of sweet in a "awww, how little!" kind of way). And then my alarm kindly failed to go off at 7:30 and instead I woke up at 8:15 wondering what time it was. So no chance I'm going to get back to ops for 9 to start helping. Not when I need to go for my fried breakfast which the treasurer kindly gave me some vouchers for to make up for working through lunch yesterday.
Today I intend to go to the dealer room and buy some t-shirts, posters and possibly kit mecha. And maybe watch some more anime. And of course its the cosplay masquerade tonight where you get to see all the pretty costumes. Must take my camera with me today...
