I'm feeling very strange today for many reasons, not least of all the serious lack of sleep that I got last night. My odd mood has me wanting to go out and do something but of course I am in work so I can't. So instead I am posting to LJ. Its not quite the same thing but breaks up the day a little bit at least.

So what's everybody else up to? talk to me, tell me things, post interesting comments and say interesting stuff. Or uninteresting stuff. I just think people should post things.

For my part I discovered that a leg holstser that I have for roleplaying purposes can be attached to the frame of my bed relatively easily. It was one of those random moments as I saw it lying in the corner and deccided to just see if I could. I should probably take it off again before people worry...

So there's my random comment. Now to go play with stylesheets for work...

Well, everybody who cares heard the news by now. Loads of my LJ have already commented on it. However, I was just drawn attention tot he following link which is a nice little story:

http://www.metafilter.com/69599/HP-1#2033579

And in some comments after that somebody said:

"When gangsters die their friends pour out some beer from a forty for their "homie". I'm guessing the nerd equivalent in this case would be to pour out some kool-ade from a bedazzled plastic goblet?"

And I thought, no. Nerds would give some of their XP over for his next character. So I'm putting that idea out there. If you're in a game and you feel an urge to do something slightly random, utterly meaningless in practical terms but kind of nice in that woolly spiritual way then go on and give a few of your XP over next time you earn some in a game. :)

One of my favourite shoot'em ups in some time is a gamecube game called Ikaruga. The concept was that your ship ould change colour from black to white and the enemies were all black and white with bullets that were either black or white. The idea being that if your ship was white you could absorb white bullets to power up your superweapon but black would kill you. Similarly if you were white you shot white bullets whcih did more damage to black enemies and so on. the tricky part in some ways is that the bullet will get literally covered in bullets and so half the point is to make sure you are the right colour to "sweep up" the bullets of the same colour and provide you with teh gaps to move through.

To see an exceedingly good demonstration of the game and how mad it can be you can click on the link to the video I've been sent (by [livejournal.com profile] evath). On the hardest skill level baddies explode into a spray of bullets when they die as well (I think of the colour that you shot them with or something).

You probably won't appreciate it as much if you've never played the game but you should be able to see that there is a huge amount of skill involved in this persons gameplay.

And yes, today is the day of updating whenever a thought comes into my mind.
