As you may remember a while ago I had some problems with my mobile phone. I am *still* having problems with them.

Currently I am pretty much uncontactable via mobile phone which is a bitch. Neither can I make outgoing calls which kind of defeats the point of it. Its similar problems that I have been having for a while now and that I got a new phone to try to fix. It didn't fix it though.

Today I called customer services and spoke to a very nice lady there who told me that she couldn't find any of my phone details. She had my customer details but she couldn't access the service centre server that had all my phone details on like diverts, bars, services and so on. Now this strikes me as a major problem. However, I can't believe that the last people didn't spot this if it was the case when I last talked to them. Though having thought about the general competence levels that you here about in these places I'm not suprised. The first guy I talked to I think did just say "Sim update" in a way that made me think it was probably his solution to everything. :)

They have set technical services onto the case now. Hopefully they *will* be able to do something about it. People in the tech centre have the ability to trash the network probably so are not going to be an infinte number of monkeys. Whether or not the problem is with this server down (since the first time at least my sim worked in another phone) I'm sure they will find the right problem. Maybe optimistic but I don't care. :)

Personally I think there are at least two problems. Or have been anyway. The phone *must* have been dodgy before since when swapping my sim into another phone my sim in another phone worked and somebody else's working ism in my phone didn't. Unless there is something to do with the handset ID causing problems (such as not existing in their database so being counted as barred maybe?) it must be a fault with the handset. That they replaced though and now it sounds like there is *definitely* a problem with their servers.

In fairness I like their customer services. The only wait to get through is the automated system (that I always try to shortcircuit as much as possible by saying "GIVE ME AN OPERATOR!!" at every opportunity. However, it seems there actual service is being disappointing at the moment. On the plus side I will be ranting and raving at them to give me a refund on my service over the last month and a bit and the lady I talked to today seemed to thing that was likely to work. Might even think about demanding money for the time I have spent on the phone to customer services. Its free from any orange phone... but wait, I'm phoning because my orange phone is broken so I have to pay for mobile rate phone calls.

Anyway, work is beckoning now.
