I bought myself a PDA earlier. Now I have a really big problem... What to call it?

Its worse than character naming I find...

So any suggestions?

My current computers are anubis (laptop) and chaos (desktop), though chaos is likely to be renamed when it gets reinstalled (due real soon now).

You could call it PanDorA.

Or PeDiAtrician.

Or Mungo.

I like the name Mungo.

I went to school with a guy called Mungo. Except of course we called him Minger, on account of how he could fart at will.

I'm also pro themes in naming computers. And I think Egyptian Gods is not a bad theme. Sadly the naming this house has gone to pot. Since Kim used farm animals through uni, and my family had used movie/tv computers.

I think Pony is my mums pc so is the only computer at home with a farm name. wonders of host files below.

192.168.2.1 cyberax.lan #bro's desktop
192.168.3.2 tma2.lan #my old pc sold to my bro for £20 or something
192.168.3.3 hal.lan #Dad's desktop
192.168.1.4 omega.lan #my old p200 (i.e. tma2) become linux server, though that hardware died dead. now running on kendy's hardware.
192.168.3.5 kendy.lan # my bro's old k6-2 previous incanation of cyberax, now become omega. so defunct name.
192.168.4.6 talyn.lan #my old k6-2, past incarnation of tma2
192.168.3.7 eddie.lan #an old HP that died along time ago and ran 3.11, used briefly on new hardware, defunct.
192.168.3.8 hedgehog.lan #my laptop, which now kim owns
192.168.3.9 marvin.lan #????
192.168.3.10 squizable.lan #my ibook on ethernet
192.168.3.11 pony.lan #kinda old pc made from all the parts claimed fault during an insurance claim. The where just using the wrong CPU fan. Now my mums.
192.168.3.12 squizzel.lan #my ibook's wifi
192.168.3.13 chode.lan #my bro's viao which has probably never been on the next other than vpn
192.168.3.254 wireless.lan #access point

We have managed to sell all the computers with movie names, however also lost a few farm animals.

Somehow I ended up with the following unoriginal set of names

router.adsl
wifi.adsl
squizzel.adsl
hedgehog.adsl
sheep.adsl #cable currently doesn't reach. Going to get wifi.
music.adsl #currently dead, replacement in transit.
console.adsl #unsused till i get a console with online gaming going.
nintendods.adsl
zaurus.adsl

though having a Full DNS and static IP for a Nintendo DS seems to be rather fun. However the naming is rather bland. and 2 computers to get back online :(

What did you get? I've vaguely been considering getting a PDA for a while yet, but have been unable to find anything that is a suitable replacement to my old Psion 5mx.

Depends on whether it's a he or a she. ^_~ My tech tends to be female, except for laptop-chan, which is male.

Osiris? Isis? Horus? I like Horus. Horus was the scribe, I believe.

I agree with [livejournal.com profile] childofatlantis... you need to sex it before you can name it... I'm having this problem with my car at the moment. Ah, the tangled webs we weave.

What kind of PDA is it?

It's a rash man who questions the ways of women.

... and it looks like a boy to me ;)

Why is it only women who seem to care about the gender or things.

Ooh, ooh, I know this one. It's the same reason only white people don't care about race.

Yes, but if you're going to name it you have to choose between male or female names...

Ooo.... its the rediculously expensive VGA one! Good choice.

I want one too... but the new mobile celerion 7inch PC thing might be better value. But its not avalible yet... and will work better with Vista, rather than XP.

Hum.
