Right. I'm being taunted. My anonymous poster has struck again...

http://chrisvenus.livejournal.com/193635.html?thread=953443#t953443

http://chrisvenus.livejournal.com/193039.html?thread=953103#t953103

And now I am thoroughly confused.

So anybody that wants to play with identifying the ip address 84.12.20.116 is welcome to do so. In the interests of some semblance of privacy (being gentlemanly as I am) all comments to this will be screened. I'll likely unscreen any that you post though unless asked not to do so or something. I did mention that i might unleash the IP address on you all and got no objections so there it is.

If this fails then more drastic steps will be taken...

Edit: I got bored of comments being screened so they won't be any more. Though I will say I like the pretty animation when you click the unscreen button. :)

A traceroute suggests it's a Nildram ADSL line, but I can't nail it down any further than that, sorry.

It's a dynamic IP, so doesn't belong to any one person.

However, we can deduce that whoever your anon stalker is must be an ADSL customer of Nildram, who are based in Buckinghamshire.

That's where Nildram are based.

Mmm, yeah DEFINITELY.

The fact it's an IP in Nildram's dynamic ADSL range which could be connected from anywhere in the UK notwithstanding eh? (and the person could just have an account on a machine on the end of that ADSL for more fun or be using a proxy or...)

Many geolocators believe the.earth.li/193.201.200.66 is in France. It's not, it's in Docklands in London. They are all inaccurate to some extent.

Please don't spread FUD like "definitely in London". 'kthxbyez

Without working at Nildram or checking that IP for services shortly after a comment and hoping they're running some webserver on it with some other information, I suspect you're unlikely to get closer, Chris.

Dude, COOL SONG. :D

Also, I have a friend who would kill to own gwydion.net...

And speaking of the Masquerade Ball, I don't suppose you feel like using your influence to persuade people to enter photos into the photo competition (http://www.oxfordmoment.com/)? It would be so nice to have some of the good ones from then as well as all the punts that have been showing up. (Although I have just had one of Lucie in a punt which was funny. ^_^)

According to http://www.geobytes.com/IpLocator.htm?GetLocation it's a London based IP.

Geolocators are highly unlikely to be able to locate an individual ADSL IP, even if static. For example my own one tends to come up as Norwich just because one of the people who runs my ISP lives there. (The particular geolocator you link to doesn't find it at all)

As evidenced. My IP comes up as Swindon.

My hostname, however is cpc3-oxfd1-0-0-cust612.oxfd.cable.ntl.com

Still think I'm in Swindon?

Oh, and probably not someone who posts regularly on my LJ (I IP log as standard and just checked over some old posts).

Thanks, that would be really cool. :)

My friend is indeed very into Welsh mythology, and the sorceror-prince in particular. :)

To the Mball photos, thanks. ^__^

I shall tell her about gwydion.com... I remember a few years ago we buzzed through every domain ending for it we could and they were all taken so if that one's come open...
