Capture the Oxford Moment

A friend is helping to produce a charity book of photos to capture the "oxford moment". That is oxford from the student point of view without all of the more common cliches pictures. The idea is to get pictures of bops and college balls and so on. Well, to quote: "balls, gaudies, blues sports, Torpids, Summer Eights, moderations, matriculations, finals, society dinners, picnics and croquet in the quods".

The idea is to submit pictures and then they will choose which ones go in.

It is unfortunately only open to students and ex-students of the university so sorry to the rest of you. If you want to know more go look at the website.

I'd actually say they were less cliches and more defining factors of oxford. Cliches are rooftop shots of oxford showing the "dreaming spires".

Those are *different* cliches but I'm with elethiomel. Although there's nothing wrong with capturing cliches for charity.

Alas, I can't help because I have no pictures of any of the above and avoided attending almost all the type of events she mentions. Okay, I went to finals. No photos survive.

My Oxford moment would be the time three japanese tourists all turned camcorders on me as I was carrying my laundry down Magpie Lane.

So that'll be pissed with a charming night-time shot of the underside of a bush, then? Or maybe the underside of Magdalen Bridge on Mayday morning, with Magdalen tower and your own twisted broken leg in the corner of the shot? ;)

Personally I say we find some nice shots of punting - that's a good student pasttime and quite photogenic.

Think they'll be interested in the LARP shots? :D

Well I guess they aren't getting any of my nice shots of student Oxford then (University Parks, round the back of the High St., etc.) Their loss.

It is a shame that non-oxuni people can't participate but I'm sure they are assuming that there are plenty of peopel at the university or recent leavers who can take good photos and they want to try to theme it a bit more precisely than just "pictures of oxford".
