Well, I saw it last night. Went to buy tickets at 8:30 for the 10PM showing and was told they'd sold out (the screen seemed to say 16). Then another guy (possibly a managery type) said, "Hang on, we'll see what we can do" and made a few calls and then wandered up to the office and then came back and sold me some. So that was all good if a little weird. Not sure why they originally claimed they didn't have any but who cares.

Having found out the doors opened at 9:50 I made the scoolboy error of deciding to turn up at around that time. Of course the queue to get into the cinema was out the door and twisting and turning its way through gloucester green. The screen was, funnily enough, pretty much full. We got front row seats and the seats actually weren't sucky ones (i guess because the screen wasn't too big).

There were some good trailers on before the film. Fantastic four looks fun (and I didn't even know it was coming out). A great line I like was roughly [Stupid plan clearly crosses mind of two characters] A: don't even think about it... B: I never do [flies off to do plan]. OK. That was a sucky description but it is a good line. Chronicles of Narnia trailer was in there somewhere too. Looks very cool. And as [livejournal.com profile] quisalan commented it did look like it was trying to be a bit Lord of the Rings. Looks fun though. I really liked the books so I'm quite excited about it. :) I think there were probably some other trailers but I can't remember what they were right now.

And then the main film started. There was vague clapping as we kicked off, demonstrating that there were some people as fanboyish as me in the crowd. The film was great, IMHO. SOme people ahve said it was as good as the original trilogy and right now I'd be inclined to agree. However, I am very aware of my reaction to films on coming out of the cinema so I am not goign to give a final call yet. I am pretty sure though that it was much better than 1 and 2.

The actions sequences were great. The dialogue was good in places but in other places suffered in the same way as Attack of the Clowns. The problem is that it was the key one on one type scenes that suffered from dialogue that I could have written better. Whether the acting was any good is hard to tell because it is these scenes were you see it coming through. Luckily I can see through crap dialogue and have a mental filter that just rewrites it to be slightly better.

As the film finished I had a few things I wanted to gripe about but overall it was damned good and I dare say I will go see it again at some point, if nothing else because of the poster offer and the fact I *really* want a clone trooper poster. :)

Anyway, I give the film two thumbs up. But then, I would.

As far as tickets go, I think they always hold a certain number in reserve and then sell them off nearer film opening time. Dunno why.

If you *really* want the poster then it would be cunning to hand over your loyalty card (unless it's specifically in yoru name with your picture) to someone going on monday (smiles) who can pick one up for you and then you can get the third one if you decide to go for a second time... or you could just go and see it loads :)
