I just watched the trailer of this and I think Keanu looks pretty cool in it. I'm quite looking forward to it coming out. Anybody want to go see it with me?

no, it's ok, I haven't even seen the trailer (just some stills) and I'm ready to kill just thinking about it.

Someone needs to get Garth Ennis wrecked on amphetamines and testosterone, hand him a machine gun, then point him at the launch party...

Ennis? WTF? Constantine was created by Alan Moore, who has famously turned his back on all films made of his creations.

indeedly so sir, but the good Mr Ennis did write a good amount of Hellblazer, and if I'm not mistaken, Jamie Delano was the guy who first wrote Constantine for 'his' own comic

Delano, Delano, Delano.

I gave up when Ennis took over. Except the 40th birthday party which I liked a lot.

I gave up when Ennis had him pull the wings off an Angel.

fair enough, but the business with the holy water, the best stout in the world and the ensuing mayhem was a brilliant moment and wonderfully summed up John Constantine I thought

Go look at my journal a few entries back. Dec 31st. And then get back to me. I will reserve judgement on your right to continued existence until you have had a chance to consider your answer.

I'm with that.

I've been twitching ever since I saw the trailer.

The wrongness, oh the wrongness...

Your friends were right.

I believe the film has some kind of list at the end of all the people who should be beaten to death with your own shoes first.

I saw the trailer with friends just after one for Harry & Kumar Get The Munchies. We thought that H&K would be a maginifect oscar-winner in comparison...

I am confused. Does this film have some special evilness that I missed? It looked like fairly standard skiffy fare to me.

It does indeed look like standard skiffy fare.

But it's meant to be based on the Hellblazer comics, which really, really aren't. And it's dragging their fine name through the dirt!

As the Poppies had it, "Alan Moore knows the score". And the score is that you get more money from letting people bastardise your creations for spare parts in the latest middle-of-the-road piece of crap movie than you do either from comics or from trying to write your own films that might be any good.
