My brother and friends

chrisvenusLast night was a fantastic night out and way out of my usual scene. Maybe I should rethink what I think I enjoy. :) I do feel very kanckered though. :)
My brother had phoned me last week to tell me that he was going to be up on saturday seeing a friend and did I want to meet up, show them around and maybe offer crashspace. It didn't happen and I was kind of disappointed but my brother can often be a bit craply organised so I didn't think much of it. :)
Monday night I get a phone call saying he would be up tomorrow (ie Tuesday, which is now yesterday). Since I'm off work this week I told them to come here nad they got here about 4ish. He arrived with Ross, Gemma (ross's gf) and Becca. I'd not met becca before but I had met the other two. They stopped for a drink and then we walked into town.
We had a bit of time before my brother's friends was due to call so when we got into town I showed them a bit of keble. Then we got a phone call and headed to O'Neills pub. Mike and Miranda were there with their parents. They're from Canada and are people my brother met when he was out there last year. We had a few drinks and chatted before the parents headed off at which point the dirnking started more heavily. :) We had another drink or two and then decided to hit the cinema to see the Ali G film. I was surprised at how funny it was to be honest. I didn't think he was going to manage to make a whole film out of it. Some of it was a bit predictable but funny none-the-less.
We went to the Grapes after that and had another few pints before moving onto Old Orleans for cocktails after that. There had been some accomodation worries while in the grapes because I couldn't really offer everybody comfortable crash space so Ross finally went and found two rooms each with a double and a single for a hundred quid which doesn't work out too bad when split.
Cocktails in old orleans were very nice. The Big Wednesday was good which was had... ummm... some stuff in it. I think malibu, coconut milk and I can't remember what else. I'll have to wander back when sober sometime and look at the ingredient list (or steal a cocktail menu). :)
We tried to find an offy that was open but being 10:00 we had no luck. The two we tried both shut at 9 and so we gave up since it was then past 10. AFter cocktails we dumped some stuff in the rooms we had (on George street so nice and close) and went to OFS which a nice lady had given us flyers for which allowed us in. And gave cheap drinks if I recall but I don't think I bought any in there so I don't know. :)
My drink tally by this time was two lagers, two bitters and four cocktails (as well as bits of other peoples). For those that have seen me drinking recently the four pints of beer is usually enough to finish me off, mixing four cocktails on top of that had me feeling a little worse for wear. And considering somebody I talked to after my first pint said they thought I was sounding quite pissed I'm surprised I remember last night that well. :)
In OFS I decided I wasn't going to drink since I was wasted and then ross insisted so I had me an archers and lemonade (and a glass of water in the other hand). I was drunk enough that I hit the dance floor and bounced around to things like song 2 by blur and just danced randomly to stuff I didn't know. :)
My brother gave me his handy dancing tips. I can't really describe them but they involve doing sports. Next time I am drunk and clubbing with you just ask and I'll see if I can pull off the moves with as much style as he did. :)
At 2:00 we wandered off and I forced people to the glory that is Hussain's (kebab van). Well worth the extra 300 yards to walk there. We got burgers, chips and kebabs and stuff and then headed back tot he hotel room. I had already pretty much decided that I was going to crash there rather than bother to walk home and so I did.
This morning we got up and moved out, had a pub lunch and then came back here (where Ross's car was) and the london lot went home and I gave the canadian pair a lift back to where they are staying while over here.
All in all I had a fantastic time. I really enjoy spending time with my brother and I have realised that I can enjoy clubs as long as I get a bit trolleyed first and have other people to keep me going. Maybe I'll do the electric ballroom next time people head down that way from here.
Oh, and there might have been some girl trying to pull me. If so I think I put her off pretty quickly since she made a move away from me after about 2 minutes and that was that. Saw her on the way out and she gave me a smile but probably just slightly embarrassed. Its possible that she was very drunk since her first words to me seemed to be an apology. IT was quite loud so I could be worng but I have no idea what she was apologising about. She gave me a hug told me I was nice and that was about it really. Maybe I need to polish up my style a bit. Or maybe shave. :)
Anyway, I wanted to right this down because it was a great night and I really enjoyed it. I'm knackered now though. Poor old Ross and gemma were working tonight (pizza express in reigate I believe) which I don't think I'd have been able to manage. Hopefully I'll catch up with them again. I believe rob is planning to see mike and miranda again and I'll be home this time next week (give or take a few days). We'll see.
