Just a quick update of things I've been up to.
I have been introducde to a new game, metroid prime, which is very nice and shiny. Its a very first game which is first person perspective but more of a platformy puzzle/exploration game than a shooter (though there are shooty elements such as when the giant plant killed me). I've been playing this and some more PSO recently.
I also saw some nice people today. Noodles and Huggie were in town (didn't even realise the latter was until I saw him) and so I went to the pub with people for lunch. It was fun and i scrounged drinks. :) Didn't really talk to noodles much but it was nice to see him. He lives too far away. :(
Roleplaying tonight. Cam stuff. It was fun. I'm still not managing to get anywhere at all with finding a new date for the game which is getting mildly annoying. I get very little feedback so I picked a date, announced it provisionally and a lot of people went "oooh, not sure I can do that". I think next time I will have at the game a list of all possible times that I would consider running and ask people to rank them from 1 to however many and then plug them into my computer, do clever calculations of some sort and find a date that way. Its pretty silly really but for the sake of our ST it would be nice to move. I am wondering if it will prove practical/possible though. :( Oh well, not that worried right now. I could put an e-mail out but I am very not worried at all since nobody is likely to respond anyway. Its jsut slightly irritating that nobody says a thing until I pick a date they don't like.
The actual RP bit of the evening was fun. Running through the rite of re-awakening before hand. Its a shame we didn't get to spend longer on it since it looked jolly fun and sarah had clearly put a lot of effort into it. Its just a shame we had to rush through to get into the main game. I was a bit of a spare part for most of it but managed to solve one of the seven challenges (basically one of those wire puzzles). I know sarah was scribbling notes with other people's aid after the event so I am hoping she will do a write up. Knowing sarah this suggestion might well be enough. :)
Apart from that rite I timed in, talked to some people, introduced a new character (sort of in that I dumped him in a room with a load of other garou and got tied up in other stuff, had actually forgotten until just now, oops), found out bad things were afoot with an expecting wolf and then got very distracted by everybody and their dog while trying to sort this out.
Trying to basically get hold of katiche and then get up there. Couldn't get through to katiche, got harrassed by two PCs (one by phone, the other found me in person) to say "one of the mages smells of vampire". I deal with this (fending off anybody who might ask too many questions since vampiric contact isn't entirely gone in oxford) and then have grinder asking me if he can go hunt for shining howl. Yup, feel free, nice of you to offer to let me lead as I am alpha but you'll do it so much better. Its nice that he is being respectful and all that but I got far too many questions asking if I was sure. Some chastisement for nothing being done earlier (I DTed and Michael said to check with Sarah but I didn't get much chance before this and as it turns out not much I could do anyway). Later a phone call saying "some mages want to come and I don't mind but will kill them if they get in the way". Yeah, whatever. Was my rough response.
Lastly in the evening was a rank challenge. A Solent Glasswalker was challenging for fostern. Queue one recycled rank challenge as I pretty much give him the same rank challenge that I had for fostern but modified to suit him. It scares me, that's two people that have asked me for rank challenges so far. :)
Driving home was interesting. Swinging round the magdalen roundabout reminded me that I needed petrol (as the enigne coughed as the dregs in the tank presumably washed away from the out flow as I cornered). So thinking about where petrol stations are that are open I cut back across to the cowley road. The no right turn enforced by the barrier across the road was interesting as the policeman said "no, left turn, go right, road close." I couldn't see what the problem was but there was lots of smoke and police and fire crews there.
I manoueuvered around and headed up Ifley Road and decided the best place to cut across was via cornwallis road (its one I know well so a) no *really* evil speedbumps and b) no shitty one way crap to worry about). It was half way down that I realised I was following people I knew so as they pulled up at krys's house I waved like a loon. Not sure if they recognised me or even saw me but it was fun. I'm adding this bit partly so they know I wasn't just stalking them and was cutting back to the petrol station on the cowley road.
Got home to see TFM playing with gadgets. He's been on a business trip over the weekend and has toys to play with now (for some work). He has a little unit with GPS system and a GPRS transmitter. This means that it transmits its location to a central point every minute. We looked at where it thought it was on the map and it was pretty accurate. It thought it had moved a bit but the first time it was on it pinpointed the house on the map about as well as I would have been able to. :)
He has to program the interface between this unit and a control unit (like a PDA) and make it do all the clever things you would want it to do.
And that is my life recently. Tomorrow I have a business meeting at 1 and then might pop round to see Lucy and chat about web stuff that I was going to do last week. Phone me if this will be a problem though having said that my phone is on the blink *again*. Orange might well be getting a very unimpressed phone call from me since my phone is claiming zero signal again. Sim works fine in another phone so I figure hardware problems again. Given that I only just got this one after a nearidentical problem a few weeks ago I am less than impressed. I might well demand compensation and tell them that since it has made me uncontacable over the last week that I will refuse to pay tha appropriate amount of money to them. Probably I'll be less pissed with them tomorrow though.
I wonder if there is anything else worth mentioning... I will be having to spend some money soon since Exalted: abyssals is out in about a week (I think). This will be nice and shiny. Which does remind me. I *still* need to have caroline and krys tell me when they can play Exalted next. I realised that I finished ironing out the last of my little plot details earlier and that I don't have a next session scheduled yet. this is silly and I think I will organise the next two at the same time. And try to always have the next one set and be scheduling the one after that.
Oh, and I believe sometime I need to talk to Steve about Avril Lavigne. I believe I'm meant to be seeing her with him and I've a suspicion that it might be this week. Thus really large amounts of needing to talk is present. I think I am going on the original brixton academy date (before two extra were added due to populare demand) and that is on tuesday so I really really neeed to be talking to the good Mr P right now.
Steve, if you are reading this give me a phone if you have a chance, don't trust the mobile to get messages to me though. I'll try to phone you tomorrow night though anyway. :)
