Doctor, he's alive!
Feb. 9th, 2003 10:42 pmYup. I'm still here. Life has been happening to me. Not updated for a while. Anybody notice I updated much more while I had work to avoid? :)
Anyway, recent stuff. Great night out last night. Dinner with earthlings (see http://www.earth.li/ ). This was great. 25 of us in a restaurant getting very drunk and having a laugh. Got to know some people a lot better than I did before. Got drunk and a little rowdy but not misbehaved as such.
Highlights include the admittedly small human pyramid three of us performed outside. We decide we were the largest earthlings built structure. The wonderful game of musical chairs as we tried to shuffle everybody about during the meal to change the company for each course.
Minus points are that there were people I'd have liked to catch up with more but having said that I am glad I talked to those I did so not really a big minus point.
What else has happened recently? Spent lots of time this evening playing computer games with a friend. I am broke but now want to buy two computer games for the XBox (an american football game called NFL2002 I think and Quantum Redshift, racing futuristically fast with guns). Oh well, its christmas soon... *cry*
Yeah, in case I haven't mentioned already I am terming myself officially broke. What does this mean? Well, first of all it means trying not to go out at all. Abandoning the high style of living I am used to in which I uy things when I want them and go out, I am now a hermit who spends no money.
Practical effects are:
1) Not going out anywhere that will be expensive (last night was planned before I entered broke phase and was pretty much my outings for february)
2) Not buying anything. Well, some things. Food, stamps if I need them. That kind of stuff but not things like magazines, DVDs, computer games, roleplaying books (I so need to buy the two exalted books now out).
3) Charging petrol money when I drive people places. I am still probably being relatively generous with what I charge but its a start for me. :)
It does mean I am starting to line up some computer games to play and do some other things.
I need to do the final planning and preparation for exalted next weekend too. First session will be lots of character gen and quite probably talking through background and most probably even if I do start running stuff i will not get even get near the relatively straightforward set piece I have vaguely planned to open with.
Preparation mainly consists of fleshing out a few NPCs. Slightly tricky since the main ones initially are likely to be family and without knowing what they are playing... Still, I can put numbers on paper to be like I want and work out specifics of character on the spot as they do chargen.
I'm really looking forward to it though am a little scared. Haven't done any GMing for ages still, should be good fun. *bounce* Exalted *bounce*.
Anyway, I was trying to say what I ahve done rather than what I haven't... Well, most of the rest of my life seems to be sitting around doing not a lot at the moment. *sigh* Life is very sucky at times. Hmmm... that's far too down. Lets bounce about dragon blooded exaltedy goodness again. Need to properly flesh out another plot too... Might call in some outside help for that one... I love mailing lists. :)

Date: 2003-02-09 08:28 pm (UTC)one game you might find amusing is Tropico- it's a sim city type god-game where you're the dictator of a small caribbean island...
glad to see you're still alive.

Wouldn't be too scared if I were you - Ryan's likely to disrupt the whole session so severely that we won't get any play in anyway.

Ain't that the truth? *knows the feeling*
Fingers crossed that things pick up for you soon - I know what it's like down here. Take full advantage of the good local company that you're in while you can.
