Well, only glancing at my LJ I realised that I haven't given a proper update in ages. A few posts about things to do or random gumph, one about being ill and general rubbish. So here's a whistlestop tour of the year to date.
January:
Well, work happened. Been ill for large parts of it. Not too bad but I got ill in the week before my birthday and have still got a bit of a cold type thing. Nothing to whinge about but I suspect it is part of the reason I've been more tired recently.
My birthday happened. The Masquerade ball was fantastic. If I hadn't taken the day off work it would have been a disaster but as it is it worked. I spent large parts of the afternoon doing a black market trade in tickets. I had a spare from krystyna, then I tried to get hold of another, though I had, offered it to somebody else, found I didn't so had to shop around for more. Got them in the end and meant that a couple more people I know could be there which was great.
The evening was great. I talked to lots of people that I'd never met and lots and lots that I knew. For the first time in my life I was just talking to anyone and everyone. I got told that I seemed to know everybody which I was impressed by. To be fair though I'd only just met some of them. I did also get told that people were discussing that I seemed to be successfully chatting up two girls. I wasn't intentionally but one of them was a cute catgirl... :)
Birthday thing was generally cool. Quite present light really which was marginally disappointing but the pressies I got were cool enough that it more than makes up for it. :) Got Die Hard (all three) on DVD which was very cool. Got Hentacle which some people here may be familiar with. Very good but oh so very wrong. I now have a Foamy t-shirt which is very cool. It only came on sunday but it was a birthday present so is being included here. I also got Xbox live now which I need to play more of.
Anyway, after the birthday time passed. Things may have happened but I have probably forgotten them.
February:
Last weekend though was my housemate's Stag day. It was fantastic. I won't say too much in public since there is much that should not be said. However, I can probably enthuse about the paintball. I had great fun. It was a great mix of me doing well, me nearly doing well and me sucking. :) The first game for example I came very close to outflanking the other team and ended up in a firefight with another guy doign pretty much the same thing to us. Due to a mix of ref intervention and me being too used to RP (paint checks on opponents probably shouldn't be treated in the same way as time-freezes; ie waiting patiently for the marshall to finish and not getting the hell out of the open). Next game I got one in the eye (well on the mask) at the beginning. And for the last time on this joke: "It was really annoying. I totally saw it coming!". probably much more funny when you can see the paint splat over my face.
Later games had me succesfully outflank the enemy. Several people shot in the back was very satisfying. Especially because of the running gunfights had in doing so. I got better as the day went on, remembering that you can give yourself covering fire really quite effectively. Nobody wants to stick their head out when they hear balls splatting on the other side of their cover.
Anyway, evening was good too. Was good to see people, talk to random people, phone or text friends and generally have a stag party. :)
That's the big stuff really. Other stuff has happened too but most of it is fairly routine. Just assume I'm doing the usual stuff and still really enjoying it. RP wise I'm already thinking up concepts for the next society game. I think I've settled on one and the great thing is it doesn't matter which game happens, I can do it in either. It will be a shame to see an end to Conspiracy since its been great but it will be a whole lot less stressful when its over.

http://www.union.ic.ac.uk/medic/fitness/home.php?type=listen - very silly songs, some of which are very rude. I've got my copy on order. None are very work safe to listen to but on headphones you'll be fine.
