Some friends of mine are soon off on a mini gaming con (short for convention I believe). There've been a few of these happened that I have heard about but I think the only one I have been to is one called HanCon which happened at a friend called Hanbury's house.
They are basically a weekend (or more) of gaming and socialising with a group of friends (no idea if the number is relevant but about a dozen I think is about right). They are great fun since you get to hang out with lots of cool people and play lots of cool games.
The one coming up is called BadgerCon and sounds like a lot of fun. I have seen people start to talk about it and get excited and I have to admit I am slightly jealous. On the other hand I don't mind not going since even if I had been invited I would probably have had to claim brokeness and not go but it looks like there will be some cool games there.
At some point I think I might like to do something like this myself. I don't know if I'll ever do anything about it but they seem to be really fun and so it stands to reason that they should happen more. Its a great chance to play in a random assortment of one offs, playing into the early hours of the morning because there is sod all else to do and generally I guess its just a nice holiday with friends.
Maybe it is something to think about if I have a summer holiday.
Anyway, to all those off to badgercon, have great fun and make sure you tell us all about it when you get back. :)
