DVD player

Well, I just decided that I should get a DVD player for my computer as unfortunately I don't seem to have one. Now, the slightly irritating thing is that there don't seem tobe any nice free ones around. However, I have a train of logic that goes thus: I own a laptop with DVD drive and two second hand 5 1/4" DVD drives. Since most DVD drives come with player software the chances are that one of these came with a player, probably all three. Since the person I got the drives from will have got DVD player with his new ones (assumign he got new ones) he didn't need the licence for the ones I now have. Therefore I should own three licences for DVD players. Therefore I should be entiteld to download one to use. :)

I just found a trial one that I thought I'd use. 30 day trial (it told me after it had downloaded) - not a problem, I'm sure I'll think of a more permanent solution in that time. On loading it nagged me and gave me option of "buy now", "more info" and "remind in 5 days". Not a problem, I can deal with being nagged every five days. It was only after I had started watching one of my christmas DVDs that I discovered the other point. Only five minutes playback on the trial version.

Now, at this point I should ask what the hell is the point? Not much of a trial if I can't even watch a fucking film with it. For all I know the full version might stop working after ten... This sounds so stupid that I am actually finding myself playing it again just to double check. I mean, they limited it to thirty days. That does kind of assume that I might want to run it again after the first time and I can't imagine why I'd want to do that if I can't play anything. And conversely I wonder why they feel they need to limit it to 30 days if I can only play 5 minutes each time...

Anyway, any offers most appreciated. In fact, I have a plan already... :)
