Result.

Whether it was due to the poking from some people (who are very wonderful) or just pure coincidence but I got the phone call that I was waiting for about three quarters of an hour ago. Yay! Go me!

They've not actually offered me a job outright unsurprisingly but they want to see me and so I am having an interview next monday. I think I will have to be ill next monday. I reckon there is a possibility that if I ask for time off they will say no and then not turning up to work anyway will be a bit suss. :) On the other hand I'm sure that if I can't get the time off on monday that I probably could on the wednesday (the other date suggested for interview) so there might not be any harm in taking a proper day of holiday... I might even use up my ask the audience on this one. :) Any opinions?

Oh, and what is the usual etiquette of telling work you are job hunting? I mean if at the interview on monday they ask for contact details of domino so they can get a reference then domino are clearly going to find out I am job hunting. Should I tell them or just let them find out with a reference request? Also (and being optimistic here) what do I do when I get the job? just write them a letter and say "This is my notice, thank you very much. So long and thanks for all the fish"? I think I am worrying too much now. :) God, I am enough of a worrier at the best of times. :)

Right. I was going to say other stuff but I have forgotten. This does make me hopeful that I might here whether they want to give me a job by the time I want to go to america. :) Day 33 is when I want to go to the US and my interview will be on day 14 which means that if I here by the friday of that week (Day 18) then I can hand in my notice on day 21 and work two weeks before actually leaving. That might actually work. :) This does sort of rely on them not needing to spend a long time getting references from domino though. :) I guess I just have to impress them enough in interview that they don't feel the need to get those time consuming references.

Anyway, I am very bouncy and happy, particularly because of this and also cos of some nice things somebody said to me this morning. :)

I'd just like to end with some thanks to Sarah, Dom and Steve, part of the Tao posse. They have inspired me into applying for this job and helped me out with advice, comments on Tao and moral support. Its been very useful. :) Also thanks to TFM and angharad for helping me sort out my damn CV and a decent covering letter. :) Oh, and Matt (housemate) who gave me the envelope to put said items in. I think I will buy all these people a drink at some point. Maybe even one each if I get the job. :)
