OK. Question for the livejournal search engine...

I want coloured eyes. Different coloured, that is. To be precise Violet (or something close).

Coloured contact lenses seem to be the obvious solution to this, however, I am unable to find any that seem to do the job well. I really want my eyes to be noticeably violet. You know, unnaturally violet. However, the ones I tried from the optician were, perhaps unurprisingly, not what I was after. They attempted to subtly change my eye colour which pretty much resulted in having different coloured eyes that might have been a bit more "amethyst" but really seemed to just bit a bit dark.

For those unaware my eyes are a kind of greyish-green. Not particularly dark but I think I basically need the opaque sort (ie not this crappy "colour enhancing" stuff) but I can't find any that are the right colour.

So anybody know much about coloured contact lenese, know where I can get what I want or advise me in any other way?

And for those who hadn't worked it out its for costume. :)

hiya mate

as you may or may not know i work in an opticians at the moment, the lenses that are most likely to do what you want are freshlook colours violet, we sell them and they cover up the persons natural eye colour. try a specsavers near you and see if they sell them if not they might be able to order you some.

I don't think TigerLily sell them anymore, sadly, but I *know* I've seen them around Oxford somewhere... bugger, that's gonna bug me all day now. I suppose you could always ask them if they do, or if they know anyone else around that does.

Sorry, that wasn't very helpful at all was it. :)

I remember seeing coloured contact lenses in the Vision Express (or whichever opticians it is at the back of the main court of the Westgate Centre). That was about a year-and-a-half ago when I needed my glasses fixed after rollcoaster abrasion! And "Freshlook" rings a vague bell as to brand.
