Unemployed

I've not posted much here in some time but figured that I should post major life events and stuff and beg for help.

So, the major life update is that on Wednesday I was made redundant. Word spreads quickly so many of you probably know this already. I'm doing alright on the whole thing and looking at it as a good opportunity for a change that I'd been half considering anyway. That and its a good opportunity to sit around playing computer games all day.

The begging is just to ask if anybody knows of any jobs going anywhere in the oxford area... I'm looking for C#/.NET stuff, preferably with a web leaning (eg ASP.NET) but am willing to try new things. Do let me know if you know of anything.

Oh, and thanks to [livejournal.com profile] oxfordgirl who gave me a tip off which has led to an interview on Tuesday for a fun looking job. :)

We do a lot of C# at Sophos (I'm just learning it myself currently). However, I don't think we've got any specific vacancies directly in your area. I'll keep a look out though.

Oh and while I was looking for work last year, I did find a remarkable (possibly over) enthusiastic recruitment consultant if you are looking for such. Thought not involved with getting me the job I ended up with, he did come up with some promising leads.

Actually, the senior solutions developer vacancy on the site does list C# and ASP.NET.

Most of the hardcore stuff is, as you presumed, in C++ (or C). However, windows UI stuff is much easier in C#. :)

No leads spring instantly to mind, but all sorts of warm thoughts and hopes that you can find something that suits really well. :-)

Good luck for Tuesday!

(Good grief - 11th post to the thread and no "good luck" or *hugs* - what's the internet coming to?!)

Sorry to hear that.
But think of it as a good opportunity to move onto better things!

Thats all a bit poo. How on earth did they do the correct procedure for picking people when you've been on sabbatical! (This isn't to say anything dodgy happened, but it must have been complicated for HR).

Good luck anyway.

I assume you'll still come to spymasters next weekend.
